All Sun Metro fixed-route buses are equipped with a farebox system that collects fares, validates passes and issues transfers. Please remember that you must always use exact change. The fareboxes can produce change cards, but do not make change.
Bills should be fed into the bill validator, and change or tokens should be dropped in the coin/token tray.
Monthly, weekly and day passes must be activated by the card validator (see illustration) by feeding the pass into the magnetic card validator.
Once validated, the pass is then swiped (see illustration) through the magnetic card swipe reader for the remainder of the pass’ life, i.e., 31 days, 7 days or 1 day.
Transfers are automatically validated and only need to be swiped.
